About Mister Gregory

Printmaker Gregory Gajus, affectionately known around the Vieux Carré as Mister Gregory, is one of the most visible and prolific working-class street artists in New Orleans. With his deep roots in the South, Mister Gregory's work pays homage to the decay of the rich visual landscape of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. A tad bit of dark humor and a big dose of mirth is in abundance. Mister Gregory has an MFA in Printmaking and the Book Arts from New College of California. He served on the faculty of New College and the California Institute of Integral Studies and has taught master classes at the Center for the Book. Most days you can find Mister Gregory in residence demonstrating printmaking techniques in the French Market along the banks of the Mighty Mississippi River, embraced by his sultry demanding mistress, the City of New Orleans.
